There's plenty of very capable packages on the CPAN (starting with Email::Sender).jetevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10262102551420196339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016251368610822667.post-65497386531432902982013-09-23T02:25:35.960+01:002013-09-23T02:25:35.960+01:00For use in web applications, sending directly to S...For use in web applications, sending directly to SMTP is now discouraged and will often fail (due to outgoing 25/587 port being blocked). Perhaps you can reconsider the option of sending to local MTA (sendmail, qmail-queue, etc) as well as sending to 3rd party services using their API.
Steven Haryantohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09282042440154229218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016251368610822667.post-13927718396756744822013-09-17T15:38:04.475+01:002013-09-17T15:38:04.475+01:00If you want to delegate email sending to a Local M...If you want to delegate email sending to a Local MTA, this is not the right package to use :)jetevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10262102551420196339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016251368610822667.post-41754811205045430862013-09-17T15:37:08.376+01:002013-09-17T15:37:08.376+01:00I'm fully aware of the Bcc header thing, but:

For example, if it's a feature of your application to be able to send (lot of) emails and manage some retry delays/blacklisting correctly, it makes it much easier to talk to remote MX directly.jetevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10262102551420196339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016251368610822667.post-46219570928662322292013-09-17T15:18:28.820+01:002013-09-17T15:18:28.820+01:00Email::Sender can provide a report for each delive...Email::Sender can provide a report for each delivery. Look at its Failure::Multi and Success::Partial classes.

Your handling of Bcc is broken. There is no such thing as a Bcc header. The whole point of Bcc is that it doesn't go in the email headers! Email::Sender explains all this in its manual.

Only sending via SMTP is not a good idea. You're forcing app developers to explicitly manage a retry queue. This is why any sane email sending solution involves delivering to a local MTA via sendmail and letting it handle retries.

I'm not sure I see any value to this new module. You might want to join the #email channel on irc.perl.org to discuss the problem you're trying to solve.Dave Rolskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01627227614124925959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5016251368610822667.post-83723934740998066692013-09-17T14:58:24.036+01:002013-09-17T14:58:24.036+01:00No option to send to the local MTA?
